mexico city again | mexico

travel October 4, 2014

I loved flying in and out of Mexico City – It is one of those places that looks amazing from above. At night time it is covered in a seemingly endless blanket of lights, and during the day is a grey backdrop with every possible colour under the sun scattered throughout. It had also began to give me the same feeling as when flying into Wellington and Melbourne – knowing that this was a place that I could always come back to and feel welcomed.

During my time there I had been treated like part of the family, and the longer I was there, the more I wanted to experience and see. I felt that there was not enough time left to do all I wanted to and as my list kept growing I knew that I would just have to come back again – to another place to call home.

teotihuacan + xochimilco | mexico

travel July 7, 2014

It took me about three days to fully realise where I was, what surrounded me, and what was yet to come. I can pinpoint the exact moment – walking down the street, not far from la casa, stopping for a second before crossing the road and in that moment looking up and everything catching up with me. I was in Mexico and I was going to be travelling for the next three months – half of this time by myself!

I didn’t have much time to think about this more as I got swept up in the whirlwind of simply the most beautiful wedding, of two of my most favourite people, and the celebration and adventures in the days that followed – Teotihuacan, the canals of Xochimilco, and the buddymoon in Cancun!

mexico city | mexico

travel July 6, 2014

5 years ago, Mexico was added to the very top of my list for places to visit, and now that I was actually going there I couldn’t imagine anything better than travelling with mi amiga who introduced me to this fantastic country. I was greeted so warmly by her family and before I knew it, I was sitting in a taqueria eating some of the best Mexican food I had ever tasted!

I spent the next week discovering a Mexico that not many would have the opportunity too, doing everyday things like supermarket shopping, running errands for the soon to be wedding, walking the streets of downtown, riding on the subway, eating at the local markets – all the while staying with mi amigas family and eating the best homemade food. I couldn’t have asked for better!
